If your condition can not wait for 1½ hours this is likely to be an emergency – Eg: choking, chest pain, blacking out, blood loss.
Shropdoc provides urgent clinical services to patients in Powys. We are a not-for-profit company established by GP members in 1996. We do not use agency doctors or clinicians to provide our services. We are a local employer of over 125 staff including nurses, drivers, call handlers and administrators.
If you need urgent medical attention that will not wait until your own surgery is next open, call 111 for clinical assessment and Shropdoc will provide any face to face consultation required. If your condition cannot wait for 1½ hours this is likely to be an emergency – please dial 999 – e.g. Choking, Chest Pain, Blacking Out, Blood Loss
Your call will be answered by trained call handlers; they are not nurses or doctors. They will take basic details and identify any life threatening conditions which may require a 999 call to the ambulance service. You will be called back by either a doctor or a nurse usually within one hour. The doctor or nurse will discuss your medical condition with you.It may be possible to resolve your health concerns with advice over the phone or with a prescription to your local pharmacy. When appropriate, you will be offered an appointment to see one of our GPs in our Primary Care Centres or a home visit depending on the severity of your condition.
