A family affair for Shropdoc Shufflers
It was a family affair for the Shropdoc Shufflers first walk of the new year as all ages gathered together to explore the Shropshire borders.
The Shufflers group will be taking part in monthly walks in 2023 with different routes for all abilities and January saw them heading to the ‘border lands’ just north of Oswestry.
Exploring the parklands of Llanforda Estate in the chilly January weather, the group made their way through the Candy Woods and the historic Oswestry Racecourse on Cyrn y Bwch Hill.
The circular walk was around five miles and took around two hours - but the Winter sunshine came out and made the day enjoyable for all with some fantastic views.
Dr Simon Chapple said: “We wanted to make the group walks accessible to everyone so we have planned some shorter walks as well as the bigger hikes. Family and friends of the four-legged variety were welcome to our first outing of the year and it was great to see so many people join us.
“Walking is a really simple way to get more active and although it is often overlooked as a form of exercise it can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier.
“Following the walk we paid a visit to the Stonehouse Brewery, a family-run brewery on the Cambrian Railway Line in Oswestry and enjoyed some much-deserved refreshment!”
