Time to Talk Day
February 2nd is Time to Talk Day.
The day takes place every year, run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, and encourages friends, families, communities and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives.
Make space in your day for a conversation about mental health
Community is one of our values here at Shropdoc and we launched the CHECK campaign to encourage people in communities across Shropshire, Mid Wales and beyond to check in with their friends, family and neighbours.
The campaign urges people to:
Care for those around them
Help anyone that may need assistance
understand that Everyone can provide support
be Consistent in their checks
Keep our communities running
And we would urge people to include conversations on mental health in their checks.
CHECKing in
Talking about mental health can be extremely hard, but for those suffering with it, it can be very lonely - and if someone is checking on them it can make a big difference.
And checking in with people does not necessarily mean knocking on their door - it could be a simple text to friends or family or a check in as you pass a neighbour on the way to the shops.
2023 campaign
The CHECK campaign was launched in December 2022 to help reduce pressure on out-of-hours services over the festive period but it has run into 2023 to ensure a continued support system.
Little things such as a simple chat or picking up a prescription can help our communities to thrive.
In the workplace
We will also be encouraging our Shropdoc workforce to come together to talk this month - the workplace is a community in itself and healthcare can be a pressurised role that affects different people in different ways.
It is important that we always think about this and work with our teams to ensure we are supporting them, and they are supporting each other.
