Think Which Service this summer

As the school term comes to an end and we head into the summer holiday period it is really important to know where you should go for advice, support and treatment in terms of your health.

If you need support or medical assistance, local health and care professionals are ready and waiting to provide you with the right help at the right time and place.

All you need to know is which service best suits your needs.

NHS Shropshire Telford and Wrekin have put together a guide to help you ‘think which service’. By knowing where to go, you’ll get the right advice, support and treatment as quickly as possible.

Think Which Service

Think self-care for good mental and physical wellbeing:

Think pharmacist for the right advice and medication for your condition:

  • Sore throat

  • Earache

  • Insect bites

Think NHS 111 online if you are not sure what to do:

  • Urgent face-to-face appointments

  • Prompt guidance, keeping GP Practices and A&E free for those who need them most

  • Urgent support

Think Minor Injury Units before A&E:

  • Bites and cuts

  • Foreign bodies in the eyes, nose and ears

  • Fractures (5 years and above)

  • Minor head injuries (with no loss of consciousness)

  • Soft tissue injuries and wound infections

The county Minor Injury Units are in Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Whitchurch, and Oswestry Health Centre.

Think 999 for life-threatening emergencies

The right help at the right time

When people need medical assistance, particularly in an urgent situation, it can be difficult to think clearly about what to do. Understandably, people will often head for the emergency department, which may not be the best place for them to get the treatment they need.

A Think Which Service website has been set up to provide further information about when to use which urgent care service. Patients can refer to it to find the right place to help at the right time.
