Say hello to Melissa Bowdler, our new Finance Manager!

As we welcome another new year, we also welcome another new member of the team at Shropdoc with Melissa Bowdler joining the organisation as Finance Manager.

Melissa has worked in finance since leaving school, starting out as an apprentice and moving through the departments in a local authority before moving into the not-for-profit sector for just under 10 years; managing a finance team whilst developing and implementing financial and procurement systems, policies, and procedures. 

Louise Biffin, Director of Finance and IT, said: “Melissa will manage all things finance and will be based with the finance team in Unit L at Longbow. 

“She will add additional strength to the team by helping to shape the future development of the finance provision as we continue on our exciting journey of change to deliver an integrated and informative finance service which works with, and supports, decision making for the business and its managers. 

“Melissa is bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to Shropdoc; her experience in the not-for-profit sector demonstrates she has delivered an integrated finance service for medium to large organisations. In particular, Melissa has managed wide-ranging skill sets to create a ‘finance partnering’ environment across the business whilst ensuring financial governance is in place and adhered to.”

Excellent financial governance

Melissa said: “I’m looking forward to working with the finance team to strengthen the policies and procedures and ensure the organisation’s continued excellent financial governance, whilst also developing this role at Shropdoc and having the opportunity for myself and the team to grow with it.

“My main aim is to drive the team forward so we can continue building great working partnerships between finance and the other departments. This will help enable the finance team to provide accurate and timely financial information for budget holders, so they are able to make informed financial decisions quickly and effectively for their areas.” 

Adventure

When she isn’t at work, Melissa is at home with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. 

She adds: “I absolutely love going on holidays with my family - I’m always planning our next adventure and Christmas is my favourite time of the year.

“Everyone has been so welcoming, so I’m really pleased to have joined Shropdoc at such an exciting time.”
