Patient donation keeps Shropdoc team dry in April showers

As we head into April and the threat of rain showers the fourth month of the year brings, the teams at out-of-hours organisation Shropdoc need not worry - thanks to the recent addition of new umbrellas!

The Shropdoc-branded umbrellas, which were bought using funds gifted to Shropdoc by the family of a former patient, will be used by staff working across Shropshire and Powys.

Umbrellas have been added to our Shropdoc vehicles to keep drivers, and clinicians dry when they visit patients outside of business hours and in many rural parts of the two counties.

Sarah Paine, Shropdoc HR Business Partner, said: “We are so grateful to receive donations from patients and their families - it makes a real difference to the teams across the organisation as they work to support thousands of patients each year.

“This donation was collected at a funeral and gifted to us by family members. After receiving the donation, the staff forum discussed where the money would be best spent, and the idea of the umbrellas was brought up.

“As we can put them into our organisation vehicles, they will always be there when our team is out and about and may need them.”

Shropdoc works with thousands of patients every year, and our mission statement is: “To keep the patient at the heart of everything we do.”

Sometimes we are supporting patients towards the end of their lives, and we hope that our support at this time is beneficial to both the patient and the family around them.
