Enhancing Clinical Skills Through Observation

At Shropdoc, we pride ourselves on providing not only exceptional care to our patients but also valuable learning opportunities for healthcare professionals.

We recently welcomed two external nurse practitioners who joined us for observational shifts as part of their clinical training, and we’re really pleased to share their positive feedback.

The first nurse practitioner reflected on the experience, saying:

"I can honestly say I had a great time with Shropdoc. The GPs and staff were all very welcoming and more than happy to help me with my questions, and help me expand my knowledge and understanding of the assessment of minor illnesses.

“I found observational visits extremely beneficial and have managed to consolidate my uni learning and apply it to clinical practice. Your teams were excellent at explaining how the out-of-hours services run and the processes involved in assessing/triaging patients.

“Thank you again for allowing me to spend some time with you."

We are proud that our teams are able to play such a supportive role in people’s journeys by offering hands-on opportunities for healthcare professionals to enhance their clinical knowledge and patient care skills.

A second nurse practitioner also shared their thoughts on their experience with Shropdoc:

"Thank you so much for organising my Shropdoc shifts. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Both GPs were very happy to help and discuss presentations. I think your service is a great opportunity for staff to improve their exposure and knowledge of dealing with minor illness patients.

“Thank you so much for your help and support with my course hours. I could not have completed them within the timeframe without you."

It is important to us to create a supportive learning environment where knowledge is shared freely and healthcare professionals are empowered to develop their skills.

We look forward to continuing to support the development of healthcare practitioners who seek to expand their expertise.
