Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month serves as a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility we all have in keeping our digital world secure.
This year’s theme, ‘Secure Our World,’ underscores the importance of working together to protect ourselves, our colleagues, and our organisations from ever-evolving cyber threats.
At Shropdoc, our mission to provide safe, reliable out-of-hours healthcare also extends to how we manage and protect our digital tools. With mobile working now a daily norm, securing the devices we use is critical to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient and business data.
How Shropdoc keeps devices - and data - secure
We understand the trust placed in us by our patients. That trust goes beyond clinical care - it includes safeguarding the sensitive information that supports that care.
Shropdoc takes a proactive and robust approach to cybersecurity, with particular focus on device and endpoint security. This includes the laptops, tablets, and phones our teams use daily to deliver care in community and remote settings.
Key safeguards include:
- Device encryption to ensure data is unreadable if accessed without authorisation
- Secure login protocols, including two-factor authentication
- Remote management tools that allow us to lock or wipe lost or stolen devices
- Automatic software updates to protect against the latest known threats
- Regular staff training to promote safe use and awareness of digital risks
These layers of protection help ensure that patient data remains secure and accessible only to authorised professionals.
A word from our IT Department
“Shropdoc has invested heavily in making sure all our devices are secured to a high standard. Whether it’s a doctor visiting a patient at home or a call handler working remotely, we’ve built systems that protect information without slowing down the care process.
We want the public to know that we take data security seriously and are constantly reviewing our technology and procedures to stay ahead of cyber threats.”
Safe devices, safe work
Cybersecurity Awareness Month reminds us that safety in healthcare includes the digital systems working behind the scenes. At Shropdoc, we’re committed to protecting patient information with the same care we bring to clinical service - because security is part of safe care.
