Christmas Advice

Here at Shropdoc we're getting ready for another busy Christmas. Hopefully you won't need us but if you do, we're here for you.

Advice for patients over the Christmas period:

Conditions which can't wait for 1½ hours, i.e. choking, chest pain, blacking out, blood loss, stroke etc will be an emergency so please call 999 immediately.

If you think you have a broken bone and may need an x-ray, or if you have a severe burn, please go to A&E.

Consider your local Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) for expert help with minor injuries.

If you run out of your regular prescribed medication a number of pharmacies can provide an emergency supply. See the prescriptions page on our website for details, and click here for pharmacy opening hours.

Check online for advice. Try the Patient Services section on our website, NHS Choices www.nhs.uk or NHS Direct www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk

If you need general health advice over the phone please call 111.

Your local pharmacist may also be able to help with minor illnesses.

If you feel that you need urgent medical attention that cannot wait until your own surgery is open please call Shropdoc on 0333 222 66 55.

Have a happy, healthy Christmas everyone!
