Always be a little kinder than necessary

"Shall we make a new rule of life from tonight: always to try to be a little kinder than is necessary?"

JM Barrie voiced his new rule of life in 1902 with the publication of ‘The Little White Bird’ - and more than 120 years later, staff at Shropdoc celebrated World Kindness Day by nominating those who are always ‘a little kinder than is necessary' for special recognition.

Kayleigh Davies, Head of HR at Shropdoc, said: “I want to say a huge thank you from myself and the Executive Management team to all of those who nominated their colleagues - we had over 50 nominations which just shows how many people are helping to share our Shropdoc Value of Kindness - a key part of the way we work here. The messages shared have been truly touching and show how much we all mean to one another.

World Kindness Day takes on a particular theme every year with the 2023 theme being "Be Kind Wherever Possible”.

We wanted to share some of the nominations received about colleagues and friends, here at Shropdoc:

“For being a fantastic member of the team, always positive, full of enthusiasm and drive. Supporting pieces of work such as non-medical prescribing, case based learning and professional standards.”

“For being courteous and always the first to offer support.”

“For always brightening up the room with their happiness and always thinking of everyone else before themselves.”

“For being an absolute delight to work with! They are kind, always thinking of others and always there to help if needed.”

“For singlehandedly upgrading the kitchen and staff room at Longbow and all the “little jobs” that make life better for everyone.”

“For always being helpful and supportive with a whole range of matters, the team always pulls together when needed, and that is seen by us all.”

“For always listening and never putting herself before others. She is not only a role model but one of the finest Nurses I have had the pleasure of working with.”
