Care in the Community
Shropshire Doctors Cooperative (Shropdoc) used the occasion of their Annual General Meeting to present the prestigious Steve Hugh Award for outstanding clinical work in Primary Care to nurse Sue Davies.
She has been a district nurse for over 20 years and currently works at both Prescott Surgery in Baschurch and Knockin surgery in North Shropshire.
Dr Russell Muirhead, Chairman of Shropdoc said:
“She epitomizes excellence in District Nursing and is reknown for providing care and support beyond the call of duty. She has shown particular skills and dedication in the provision of palliative care and gives unwavering support to patients, their families and carers. Students looking to join the nursing profession should look to Sue for an ideal role model. During these times of much criticism of the NHS it is worth reminding ourselves that there are many highly motivated and dedicated people that get on doing their work quietly and effectively to the benefit of our local communities. Sue is one example of the many that are around us and it is right that such examples of high quality be recognised.”
As well as the Steve Hugh Award there is a cash award which will be split between Sue and her nominated charity, the Severn Hospice Help at Home team.
