We are an expanding not-for-profit company providing a range of medical services for patients 24/7 365 days a year meeting the needs of the population we serve across the West Midlands Region. We are recruiting for Urgent Care Practitioners to support our Out of Hours & Urgent Care services.

We are making exciting and innovative changes to how we provide services in partnership with others and how we deliver care in our new model of 24/7 Urgent Primary Care. We have developed a new role of Urgent Care Practitioner (UCP), working with other Clinicians in Shropdoc.

The future will see more UCPs working across multiple healthcare interfaces in the Region as services expand. They will be involved in triaging patients over the telephone that have called 111 as well as providing appointments in Primary Care bases and undertaking home visits.

The post is suitable for qualified nurses with 5 years’ post registration experience, experienced Paramedics or Physicians Associates. Central to the role will be the use of critical thinking and advanced decision making skills in order to accurately assess and manage patients with a wide range of clinical conditions/illnesses.

You will be expected to deliver safe and effective patient care by using skills, incorporating history-taking, physical assessment, diagnosis and liaising where appropriate with other healthcare professionals.

You will join a team of GPs, Urgent Care Practitioners and Advanced Nurse Practitioners who share a common goal of providing high quality care for patients.

“Shropdoc service is in good health

I would like to make a comment on the Shropdoc Service which I have been very impressed with over the past two weeks. The service and attention given by Drs McMurray and Lovell during their visits to my home has been fantastic. Being a senior citizen aged 91, I was very concerned with my state of health. The reassurance and medication given by these two doctors certainly improved my condition. Furthermore, the time taken to visit me was very quick and responsive. I feel some of the bad publicity on the NHS Shropdoc service is not warranted and not a true reflection of the excellent service I received during the past two weekends. Many thanks to all concerned….much appreciated.
