Shropdoc to Host Awards Ceremony

Out of hours provider Shropdoc will host an awards ceremony to mark the huge success of the service and its staff. The Celebrating Success event will take place at the Shrewsbury Town Football Club on September 28th and will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Staff will be recognised in a number of categories including Leadership, Unsung Hero, Team of the Year, Newcomer, Clinical Services and Non-Clinical Services. The winners will be chosen by a judging panel consisting of a Shropdoc Council board member, a senior clinician, a member of the executive team and four members of staff.

Chair of the Shropdoc Council, Dr Russell Muirhead, will then choose the recipient of the Chairman’s Award from the category winners. Ian Winstanley, Chief Executive Officer of Shropdoc, said: “Since being appointed in October 2013 I have been struck by the commitment and dedication of staff working at every level throughout the organisation. We have many unsung heroes in Shropdoc and I am delighted that we have been able to properly recognise them.”

Money will be raised for Alzheimer’s UK through a raffle with prizes generously donated by local companies. Among the prizes are a voucher for six people at the Adventure Rope Course at Albrighton, tickets to the Christmas experience at Powis Castle, a case of beer from the Salopian Brewery, biscuits and cake from Mix ‘n’ Munch, a golf voucher for four at the Telford Hotel and Golf resort and two family vouchers to Telford Ice Rink.

Debbie Morris, HR director at Shropdoc, said the Alzheimer’s Society is the out-of-hours provider’s chosen charity of the year. She said: “Alzheimer’s was chosen as a charity that is not as widely supported as many others but affects 850,000 people in the UK with the number set to rise to 1 million by 2021. The charity is a worthwhile cause that holds similar beliefs and values to our own. We are extremely grateful to all of the businesses who have supported us, from the Dan Yr Ogof Showcaves to the Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Ludlow Food Centre and Shrewsbury Town Football Club, businesses and organisations from across Shropshire, Powys and Telford and Wrekin have come forward with raffle prizes.”

The raffle will take place during the Celebrating Success day and also includes meal vouchers for Loch Fyne, Optimum Joy and Saffron Cottage and treatment vouchers for St Nicholas Spa and Garden Beauty Rooms.
